When talking about nose surgery there are two main methods, Open Incision and Closed Incision.

For Open Incisional Surgery an incision is made across the nostrils and columella, the skin is then raised to expose the cartilage and bone structures within.

This method is used to get an open view of inside the nose when the framework of the nose needs and adjustment in its height, width or length.

Scars are only visible from a close up view, and they usually disappear 2-3 months after the surgery.

●● 2. Closed Incision

The Non-Incisional Procedure is performed by creating a small incision inside of the nostrils.

This method is used to slightly raise the tip or bridge of the nose and should only be performed by a specialist due to the difficulty of the procedure.

The advantage of this procedure is that the scars are concealed.  The disadvantage is that it can only be used for relatively simple procedures due to the difficulty of gaining access to the interior of the nose.
